Fair complexion and slim, Ouk Sokun Kagna (Kagna) is, nowadays, a young famous singer. Because her golden voice from nature, on the TV screen this slim star has crabbed many audiences’ heart. She has committed herself to please her viewers.Recently, there were a lot of things have happened on her life. First, Kagna left U2 Productions for a new music production company namely Rock Productions (RP). Kagna did not tell reasons about why she went away from there. She just said she was happy with RP because at there it does not convert international song to Cambodian song. Another striking, she has awarded, now, five years contract by Rasmey Hang Meas (RHM).

RHM is known to be one of the most stable music companies which there are a lot of singers who always whish to become a member. “Search Newspaper” did not know the information as to what kind of a contract she had signed with RHM and if the contract will require her to give up other jobs from other music production companies.
It is a good opportunity for Kagna to become more and more popular in RHM, but she will collaborate with other singers to make great songs instead of competing with them.
Clapping in Chenla Center in Phnom Penh, Kagna said: “my dream comes true”. To become a famous singer is her desire when she was at high school. At that time there were a lot of her classmates suggested Kagna to sing. That is why Kagna has tried until she is, now, a famous singer.
Speaking about songs this 20 years old singer stated that because a supporting from her friends and her mother who is a professor at Fine Art University she has stepped in art field since 1999. In this year Kagna was a Fine Art University graduate. Her major is Khmer Traditional Dance. During that period she was only 13, while the other girls were still dirty.
Part of affection and Hip Hop song are the song that she likes in her life. Jumping up and down with her hair flying all over the place, she captivates her audience with style. “I used to sing karaoke for production of Raskmey Steung Sangker, Sunday, and oversea production,” said Kagna.
We should know that Kagna used to sing Khmer songs at French and the United States of America. She was also an actress in the movies such as Kmoch Pyea Bath (Spite Ghost), Momeach Men Klach Pleung (Insects Play with Fire). Snam Sne Samoth Ream (Ocean Ream Loving) is either a song or a little of a film that was aired in the country and overseas make her popularity rise significantly after she sang this song. Besides she is a karaoke singer Kagna also tries to make a good use of time to run her mother beauty salon at Phsar Dey Hoy in Phnom Penh district.
Though Kagna was trained deep-rooted in music university, she would like to say she have to try more and more when she was free. Sometime she sang a song without intention. Especially when she went to visit rural area such place as field.
“The more i listen to her songs the more beautyful her sound,” this is a word of a student at Mekong University So Ratha. He is one of listeners showing his heart to support Kagna’s songs and her simple appearance, although he is a gentle man. At Ratha’s house it has a lot of CDs which contains the song of Kagna even in his computer. When Ratha went outside he always listened to Kahna’s song that he had stored in his MP3. Chey Sambath is a student at the Department of Media and Communication agreed with Ratha’s idea. Sambath likes her dresses; it is not a miniskirt like European culture.
Kagna is a first daughter and now she lives with his mother and her sibling in Russey Keo commune in Phnom Penh. Kagna when she just left U2 production said: “until today I have no even a man in my heart. I wait for a few more years.” And she also denied the rumor that said she had a loving relationship with Rithy Dona. She cleared up that between her and Rithy Dona was just a friendship. But recently Kagna and Rithy Dona nearly get married each other. This is like a Khmer word said: “mouth says no, but heart says yes.”
A young girl like her can’t get away from tabloids and rumors about negative and positive, and one more story that she refused is the rumor said she wanted to live in Australia. Actually it is a thought of her father at all. She refused: “I do not want to live in Australia. I do love beloved Cambodia. Here I have a good mother. I live peacefully. And I have a beauty salon.”
Saying about her father, Kagna looked so sad and she did not tell any thing about her father. But we know that her father was a well-known music writer. Nearly every Kagna song in the past few years are from her father. Her father lives in Australia leaving her mother, her sibling and herself live without warming from her father.
Answer to the question “what should a singer do to become a famous star?” Ouk Sokun Kagna said before she became a popular singer, it had lots of obstacles. First, about her action she always stays on the stage and moves in front of the thousands audiences eyes. The singer should feel confidentially and be pretty all the time.
Though Ouk Sokun Kagna is, now, awarded five years contract by Rasmey Hang Meas, in the near future she want to open a big song school that teach by her own.
